I found this nut on the floor on the driver's side. Most of guts around the steering wheel, ignition, pedals, etc. are exposed (not covering), so it could have come from anywhere.
It's sort of a strange shape with a normal looking threaded hole, but knurled, almost gear-like outer diameter.
Anyone know where this goes?
Thanks!
What's this nut?

Each gauge is held to the backside of the dashboard with one or two metal clamps. That looks like one of the nuts that attaches the clamp to the gauge.

You can pull the steering wheel and then drop the steering column about half an inch by loosening the bolts on the underside of the dash. This makes it easy to pull the whole dashboard out. Total time is only about fifteen minutes, and you'll have a chance to clean up most of that mess, tighten loose nuts, and replace old bulbs, etc.
