The early accelerator linkage works great under ideal circumstances. In the case of any old Spider this means that anything that would allow the engine to twist excessively is not worn out. This includes all three mounts (motor and trans), the rear suspension, driveshaft donut, the accelerator linkage bushings (in the firewall and on the head). Also the size of the main and secondary idle jets affects this as they like to be a little rich during transition and eliminate the bucking.

That first sentence was a bit tongue-in-cheek, ideal circumstances and 40 year old cars don't come together..ever. You can minimize the problem and modifying your driving style somewhat to accomodate.
