Reverse Lockout Pin

I looked in the top of my 5 speed shift casing under the shifter and noticed the small rear plate was loose. Further investigation found that I'm missing the reverse lockout pin and nut. I've been driving it for a while and all the gears work Ok. Will not having that pin cause any problems?

with that pin missing, with an energetic downward pull out of 5th gear... will you hit fourth gear or reverse?

replace the pin to be sure it isn't reverse that your shifter lever aims for.
