OK, so Im a racing wannabe. I do not wear a t shirt with a pic of my fav idol, but I have a Hoosier tire hat. I have to admit that if any race is on, I will probably watch it, but I have my favorites, of course with a local influence. I have spectated at F1, Champ car,a Little IRL, ARCA and local stocks, Modifieds, All USAC [open wheel], Monster Trucks, Flat track motorcycles,Motorcycles on ice, Antique auto hill climb (saw modified Modle T's with Frontnec engs) ...... been to alot (but not enough) of diff tracks, Turned 21 at IMS on raceday, .... and survived, Have been a Auto Tech GM trained most of my life. Anyway, I still have tracks yet to see and diff forms of autos to watch. My ultimate favorite are USAC Midgets at half mile high banked dirt track at Eldora Motor Speedway (here is the local influence) What are your favorites?? Heres dirt in your eye, D in I

Wow, that's a hard one. Since my husband used to race ARCA and was a Busch crew chief years ago, most tracks I enjoy are NASCAR affiliated. My honeymoon was taken during speedweeks at Daytona, my birthday is celebrated at Pocono Raceway, Atlanta is a tricky track and very fast and Bristol is just plain fun. Martinsville has the best fried bologna sandwiches and Richmond has great hot dogs. Ron is hoping to qualify for the Busch race in September at Richmond. The car is about ready and I have my fingers crossed. Locally, we enjoy going to Bowman Gray Stadium, where the track is built around the football field and the stands are packed with fans. It is also where Richard Petty, Ralph Earnhardt and many other old timers used to race. 311 is a dirt track where the outlaw cars sometimes run and Caraway is where Ron races now. Virginia International Raceway is where I'm hoping to take some driving classes and drive one of my Spiders in the Vintage class.

I forgot I went to the brickyard, and to a ARCA race at Salem speedway, and a ASA race at Winchester. Good luck in Busch, I will be watchin if I can. Last weeks Sprint feature at Salem should be on Outdoor network soon, I was there! Atlanta looks like a good venue, or Bristol? RD in I

If you come to the Southeast for a race, Bristol is short track racing at it's best. You can't go wrong, even at a Busch event.
We'll be testing the engine at Caraway next week and if it holds up, we'll test at Richmond. If all goes well, I'll post his car # and qualified position. It will be hard, since the Cup guys will also be there, but who knows what could happen.

I have haunted Laguna Seca for the last 5-6 years. Been to ALMS, AMA Superbike, & Monterey Historic Races there. I live close to California Speedway but, have only been there once. I wasn't impressed. Not a very good road course. I like road races mostly. It's got to turn both right and left and have a good variety of equipment to keep my interest. :D ...J.D.
