Unknown connection. Need some help with this one.

I have a connection on my intake manifold about center of it on top. It is two hose connections. I think it may be coolant, but not sure. Mine are not connected to anything at the moment.

Anyone know what these are and where they should be connected to?
I have a picture, but I don't know how to upload it here.

It is a '77 model 1800, basicly stock. I think they took all the emission stuff off years ago.

that is a thermal switch that was in series with the egr valve. It prevented the egr valve from opening until the water temp was about 100F. It does go into a water jacket, so you'll need to plug the opening if you decide to remove it.

It has already been removed I guess. I found the connections when I removed the carb.

The car seems to run fine without it. Is the removal of this connection the first step in blowing up your engine?

Removing it won't hurt a thing. I wish I could get rid of all that crap on mine but the lovely State of California says no ! I'm thinking of building up two different head/manifold/carb assemblies, one for the smog test and one for the rest of the time. ...J.D.
