One of the braided hoses going from the reservoir to the master cylinder is leaking fluid on my paint in the engine bay! I come to the altar of collective wisdom to ask: Are these replaced with the same type of hose, or switched out to rubber hose?
Thanks gang,
Ron

Original equipment hose lasted for 20-40 years, why change? Vick 05-0050, $7/ft.

Good ole' Bernie. Not only a source, but the part number and price to boot!
Thanks buddy.

Re: Got a leaker
Ron,
The original is rubber, with braided cloth on the outside. I'm guessing that the braided cloth is mainly to insulate the rubber from heat, and maybe other spilled fluids, but it makes it hard to see any visual signs of cracks in the rubber.
Regardless, the key is to use rubber hose that is compatible with brake fluid. This is not a common item in most autoparts stores. Brake fluid will eventually soak right through fuel line or vacuum hose, so don't try to substitute those. Vick's is where I got mine, also.

You guys failed to mention that the new blue hose looks real cool. Make sure you replace them both and check your reservoir to ensure it is not in need of replacement as well. Hate to do the job more times then necessary.

Yeah, I noticed that it's blue. I don't know how that's going to look in my red car.
Probably better than the present hose that's covered with brake fluid though.
