Shock absorber shank wrench?

Post by nicktheviking »

The shop manual says to use a service tool (shank wrench) to hold the shock absorber end in place when removing the nut. Is this tool necessary or can a regular wrench be substituted?

good luck finding the Fiat specific tool.

usually a decent pair of vice grips works really well, since you can clamp it on and letter ride.

there is a socket designed to hold the inner shaft on shocks. It's a double-D shape, not just specific to Fiat
