Fuel Pump Electrics
Hello! Been tracking down a no start issue. Was driving perfectly then just shut down. I have an 80 FI Spider. I have power to one of the leads on the top of the pump with the key in the on position. The other lead has a very faint light with the key on. Can I assume bad pump since I have power? Or is the other lead with the weak light get grounded when you turn the key? Am I totally wrong on all accounts??

Re: Fuel Pump Electrics
I believe the green/black wire should be power at the fuel pump when the ignition key is in the "start" position (engine cranking)Can I assume bad pump since I have power?
the White black wire at the fuel pump should be ground. Having a dim test light on this wire would indicate a bad ground connection. This wire grounds at the driver side tail light along with the tail light ground wire on one of the tail light mounting studs.
Unless someone has modified the cars wiring I don't think you should have power at the fuel pump with the ignition key in the "run" position.

I think it has been cobbled together at some point. I have power at one lead in the run position and very dim at the other lead. I’ll check grounds for sure today.
