No Spark

Post by murrayr6 »

Hey yall, I have a 1977 spider that has a xr700 crane electronic ignition. It has gone completely out and am at a complete loss. I have an external ballast resistor between the + going to the coil. I have replaced the coil but it made no difference. Here what happened... was driving the car, it ran amazing, then stop by chic fil a to eat with some friends. When I got back to car started it and drove off, not but a quarter of a mile down the road the engine cuts out. I try starting it again and it just barely coughs to life, so no I am trying to just get it to a parking spot. I get another quarter mile, aiming for the closest parking spot when it died again and would not start. I was able to roll downhill to a place to park but was never able to get it started again. She went home on a tow truck  Now that she is back home I can not get the car started again. The xr700 ignition box led wont blink like it should. Maybe it got to hot? Please help!

Sounds like your ICU is roached. Have someone else crank while you measure voltage at its input. Coil too.

If nothing is getting anything, replace your ignition switch.

If it is getting 12V, toss it and go this route:
