Coolant Temperature Sensor

Post by lugbutz »

Hi.... so I am troubleshoot a "Cold Wont Start Issue" and have been using the follow Bosch FI diagnostic guide to help me work thru the process

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QyoWu ... C9LiCPfEZP

I am at the section which tests the Coolant Temperature Sensor and says do an ohm reading on the Sensor at connection 13 on the ECU. The Manuals provides the following guide for testing the Sensor

OHMS Temp
7000-12000 -10C (14F)
2000-3000 . 20C (68F)
250-400 . 80C (176F)

With a ranging Ohm Meter set at 20K my reading is 3.90 which I believe translates to 3900 ohms and according to the document means the temperature is below 20C (68F) and above -20C (14F)

So My question is...according to the chart.... my sensor is ok? Is that correct?

What was your ambient temperature when you meassured the resistance? If it was around 15C your sensor should be fine.

Ya it was around 15c....

Is there a formula I can use in the future?
