rear yoke seal

Had the drive shaft balanced. Ordered a replacement grease seal for the yoke from Vick autosports. The seal delivered is different from the seal removed which was a typical lip seal. The replacement is a Rubber gasket with same OD, a 45 degree bevel on one face and other side is flat with grooves.

Does this sound right? - Anyone know which side (bevel or flat) faces forward? I suspect that the bevel is faces rear to seal against the yoke guide bushing?
