Heater Valve Working Backwards?
Heater Valve Working Backwards?
During yeaterdays fiat ride my heater was working normally. Then today i got up to operating temp and i felt no heat even with both levers on hot. I felt the heater pipes as they go into the core and the pipe without the valve was hot and the pipe with the valve was cold. I then switched the heater valve lever to cold and then i got heat. When i put the valve on hot then no heat. Has the valve somehow started to work backwards?

Re: Heater Valve Working Backwards?
Did you get confused about which way to move the heat and cold levers?
The "arrow head" on the lever surround isn't an arrow, but rather an indicator of more or less cold or heat. Intuitively, if you want eat, you move the lever toward the pointy end of the arrow, and vice-versa. But that is the opposite direction you need to go in to get heat.
In other words, if you move the heat lever toward the small end of the red arrow, that is less, or no heat, not more. And vice-versa. Move it toward the big end of the arrow and you get more heat.
Sorry if you knew that, but I have known many folks who got it wrong. Hope this is the problem.
