Transmission Neutral Reverse Sensor

Post by ozmington »

Can someone please confirm the function of the neutral reverse sensor toward driveshaft side of the transmission and what are it's effects. I swapped out my old transmission with a rebuild and all systems were go (everything moving freely, engine turns) EXCEPT that my fuel pump isn't getting any power, coincedently neither is my fuel gauge and a couple of other minor electrics. I have hooked the wires up to the sensor that came with the rebuild but I'm wondering if the problem is with the sensor that came with the transmission. So far I have run the electric line for the pump and have not found any defects. This is an 81. Manual Trans.
Thanks in advance.

I would recheck the electrical connections at the starter solenoid, The battery terminal of the solenoid should have the battery wire , the wire to the alternator, usually black and a brown wire that feeds the ignition switch terminal 30.
Terminal 30 is switched to the fuel pump dual relay set and the starter solenoid in the start position of ignition switch.

Thanks for the suggestion. You got my wheels turning and thinking about it, I agree that it's gotta be in the ignition/brown wire. I'll look into it tomorrow. Thanks
