piston mishap?

Post by Leesfer »

this is the second "oh no it won't start" post ive made... This time its much worse I'm afraid...

I let my brother drive the car and he called me up in the middle of his outing to tell me the car isn't working so I drove down and sure enough it isn't starting again. Though this time it will start for a moment and idle at nearly 0 rpms then shut down. When I opened the hood and got in there I could smell burning from between the cams, so I'm thinking pistons/sparks. Any ideas?

edit: it stays idling until you hit the gas, and when you do you hear clank from the engine

I'd check the timing belt alignment BEFORE trying to start the engine again. On a 2L, if the t-belt alignment is off, the aux shaft can contact the crankshaft/connecting rod and do some serious damage
