Clutch Fork broke off - weak welds

Post by aaronsoots »

Well the wife and I had been enjoying a nice Sunday ride after getting the dash sorted out. We were pulling down our street and the clutch decides to make an announcement... It sounded like the spring slipped off but in fact the weld that attaches the fork to the clutch pedal broke. It is now separate from the car.

Question is what is the best mode of action. I am planning on taking off the pedal and either welding back on the fork or buying a new fresh pedal.

I am sure it's happened before but not much I could find on the subject here. Is there a best mode of action as far as getting the pedal out as well? Hoping to get it back on the road soon.

I've gotten a hold of a buddy who welds and we are going to go ahead and try to repair this part. I got up under there and have done a bit of digging on the forum to tell me that first I need to get some pennies or nickles jammed in the clutch spring first thing. Then There is a bolt right to the left of the clutch arm that I loosen and slide off, releasing the pedals. The hardest part is going to be keeping that spring in place. I will take some pictures for those that may find themselves in this situation. I am going to reenforce it since we are dealing with it as well.

Don't just weld it, reinforce it with a small brace from the far side of the fork to the pedal.

Ok great thanks. This isn't really "hard" it's just a PITA haha. It's been beautiful here in Indiana lately and missing out on all these great driving days.
