Thought I would shoot a video of my engine running with timing light and tach hooked up.
I sure am having fun with my old car and all this new technology stuff.

Timing light video
sun inductive timing light on #4 plug wire. I set timing to 0 Because the sticker on the front cross member says 0 at 850 rpm, it says the same in my owners manual
started good when warm but in the morning when its stone cold it started a little hard so I bumped it up a little with out putting the light back on it.
Starts better now in the morning I'll have time to get the light out tomorrow and see what its at now.
I've also eliminated 1 set of points as per the tech bulliten I found on the international auto parts web site. that made a huge difference in idle smoothness and general zippyness of the motor.

Pump belt is off as is some of the pollution stuff from previous owner.
I want to get it running as good as possible in its current state so that when I start messing around with pulling other pollution controls off It'll be easier to diagnose any problems that arise.
Have you ever used the color tune gadget? I think I've got the mixture set pretty good as my plugs are all nice light grey color. but it would be fun to play with that tool.
I also checked compression and I have 125psi on all four cylinders.
I had a little bucking and a backfire when downshifting to 2nd gear and the getting back on it hard comming through a 90 degree corner. I put some sea foam through the motor today. we'll see if that gets rid of some of that sticky varnish inside of all those motor parts.
Previous owner didn't drive the car that much but I sure do!
