What a fun but challenging weekend. My last post I was pretty harsh on the dual IDF setup. We had a lot of problems and finally just lived with shifting at 5600 rpm,as it would start sputtering above that.Needless to say, performance was hurt! But hey,It was what it was.We had a bigger issue with the front end geometry! The alignment after our front rebuild was a joke. The tires were askew, leading to 3 snap spins, including one by me! I have never had a car behave like that.
So....Sat. night I decided to do an alignment!! I have no clue how to do that!! So we watched a youtube video and using string, pencils and a plum-bob app from a guys Iphone,we got 'er done. We had a leak in our fuel cell ,that cost us an hour that we were penalized and told to not come back until it was fixed! We used JB Weld for gas,and sealed it up ,and were allowed back on track.
Sunday was fairly uneventful. The front end was 100% improved, although not perfect. The other drivers were really thankful to me and Ed for undertaking the alignment. We finished mid pack(53rd out of 120 entries),not sure of in our division. We have a great team of guys and we are looking for more power from the engine build we plan for winter,I am trying to talk Lou into a single plane manifold with a 2 barrel Weber. The duals are too hard to tune on the fly. We would have people come by and look at the motor and say "Wow..carbs,really?" Sometimes old school aint all its cracked up to be! Pics in the next couple days
