I was droving to work the other day and my serpentine belt broke fr the third time in as many weeks. and the car started to overheat so I pulled over. I let it cool off and tried to go the last 1/2 mile (at the most) to work. i was keeping an eye on the temp and it never really got that hot I didn't think and then the car just would move at all any more. I got help to roll it off the road and was going to get towed back home. when I got home my dad had already installled the new belt and I was going to check to make sure the battery was going to start the car in the morning. It would not start, though the battery was charged. then the other day we decided to check the timing, and the compression. We couldn't see the timing cark so that was a waste of time, then we tried the compression and there was 0 compression on all the cylinders, the guage didn't even jump a little.
anybody think there could be any other problem other than the head.
If not i have three other engines:
1 '73 spider pinninfarina 1.8L
2 '73 spider 1.8L
3 '79 spider 2.0L
the first had a 5sp manual trans. which is now in my car. The second has a manual 4 sp trans(we think). The third has an auto trans. i will probably be keeping the 5 sp manual trans. that's in mine right know no matter which engine I choose. My question is which engine/trans combination would be best if it comes down to replacing the engine?
I'm assuming that all the engines will have basically the same trans. mount.
P.S. My car that I'm trying to fix is a '78 pinninfarina spider.
I also have a porshe 924 that could be another option if need be.
