Hi!
I will change the windshield on my Spider -77.
Is it someone who can tell me if I have to take away the daschboard to reach the screwnuts for the frame or is the screwnuts welded to the body ?
Thanks a lot !

Hello CECE,

Back in 2009 John Frawley posted this procedure:

There are probably more posts about this too. Try the search.

John knows his stuff.

You do not have to remove the dashboard, I have always been able to keep the nuts from turning with it in place.
The nuts are not welded to the body.

The upper nut on each side is welded to the body, the lower nuts are not. There is not much room for a wrench or socket so a large flat screwdriver wedged between the sheet metal flange and a flat face of the nut will prevent it from turning while you loosen the bolt.

I just did this on a '70, and the upper nuts were not welded to the body, but I think later cars are.

The uppers are welded on 76, 78 and 81 I know from personal/parts cars. It sure makes it easier.

first off mark that angle with masking tape for a reinstall point.
