Hi!
I will change the windshield on my Spider -77.
Is it someone who can tell me if I have to take away the daschboard to reach the screwnuts for the frame or is the screwnuts welded to the body ?
Thanks a lot !

You do not have to remove the dashboard, I have always been able to keep the nuts from turning with it in place.CECE wrote:Is it someone who can tell me if I have to take away the daschboard to reach the screwnuts for the frame or is the screwnuts welded to the body ?!
The nuts are not welded to the body.

Re: Change the windshield
The upper nut on each side is welded to the body, the lower nuts are not. There is not much room for a wrench or socket so a large flat screwdriver wedged between the sheet metal flange and a flat face of the nut will prevent it from turning while you loosen the bolt.

I just did this on a '70, and the upper nuts were not welded to the body, but I think later cars are.manoa matt wrote:The upper nut on each side is welded to the body, the lower nuts are not.

The uppers are welded on 76, 78 and 81 I know from personal/parts cars. It sure makes it easier.
