DC Fiats April & May Events

Post by baltobernie »

We want to invite you to Two DCFiats events in April and two events in May.

Saturday April 9. The DCFiat 500's are going to do their spring ride from Langley VA to Lorton VA passing by all the downtown memorials and the Mall. This year the special guest is a gent who's traveling down the eastern seaboard in a Nuovo 500 and he's joining our group for the event. You're also welcome to join or merely be downtown or along the route to cheer for your smaller Fiat friends. Interested? Contact Mark Santaw at dcfiats500@gmail.com for info.

Saturday April 16 We're calling it Cars, Coffee and Carl's Caravan because it meets at Katie's Coffee House in Great Falls for the weekly informal car show to ogle the always interesting display of unique and special cars. This is a good chance to join up with the DCFiats group for awhile, even if you don't go on the drive. The drive will start about 9:30 and end up for lunch in Leesburg, and you can join us there. Please let Carl know if you're planning to attend so he can look out for you. carl@dcfiats.org is his address for this drive.

Sunday May 1 We're adding a patriotic twist to the Raduno Primavera--Spring Gathering this year. It's called Warrior Ride 2011 and it's dedicated to our wounded Soldiers who are recuperating and undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Army Hospital. DCFiats and Alfa Club drivers will host a Wounded Warrior as their navigators. We will meet the Army bus at Monocacy Battlefield Visitor Center, 5201 Urbana Pike, Frederick MD at 9:00 sharp. The drive through the hills of western Maryland will stop at Antietam Battlefield for the visitor center and then continue on to the Cozy Inn in Thurmont MD for the buffet lunch. Cost for the lunch is $20 per person, and if you're hosting a Warrior Navigator, we ask you pay $10 for his/her lunch. Todd Rosenthal will direct the drive.
We have asked DCFiats members to sign up if they wish to host a Navigator. The list includes: Frank B, John F, Ginny, Ron C, Ron S, Wanda, Dan B, Gerrie, Twila, Erskine, Mario CF and Walter.
We're planning on a max busload of 44 Soldiers/Spouses and we will divide with the Alfa Club, leaving us max of 22 places, possibly a few more. You do not need a Warrior Navigator to drive this event, but you do need to send me a reply soon if you wish to host a Navigator so you're on the list above.

Saturday May 21 The Fiat and Lancia lineup at the Carlisle Import Show. Vendors, Flea Markets, Swap Meets, and thousands of imports. Plus the DCFiats Italian Sausage and Hamburger Pavilion on the showfield. If you register at http://www.carlisleevents.com before April 18, you can save 10 bucks and they'll mail you your windshield pass, thus saving another 20 minutes at the gate. We'll be barbequeing for all our Fiat friends tol allow you to roam the grounds at your leisure.

Everything above and more is available at http://www.dcfiats.org/events with plenty of links for information and to the organizers. If you wish to join us on any of the drives, especially the Warrior Ride 2011, be sure to let us know.
