So my alternator started rattlin' again..

So I go out and tighten up the big pivot bolt that goes thru the alternator bracket on the block and the two alternator mount lugs on the front and rear of the alternator.
Cool huh, that should take care of things.
So I start up the engine in preparation to get on down the road. But that ain't happening yet.
My alternator belt is squealing like it's reinacting in a scene from Deliverance!
WTF?? Shut her down.
Open the hood and get try to turn the alternator. It's STUCK!
So I get under the car with the two #19's and loosen the pivot bolt up a little. Restart the engine and all seems fine. Except I know the alternator is still gonna rattle.
So, VERY CAREFULLY, with the engine at idle. I get under there and slowly increase torque on the pivot bolt and right away I can hear that the alternator bearings DO NOT like what I am doing!
Back the nut off the bolt a little more and I note that there's a little gap on the inside of the alternator lugs where they slide over the bracket.
I just happened to have a washer that was the right thickness to use as a shim, about 1/16".
Slid that washer on the back side of the bracket in front of the aft lug. Retorqued that big bolt to stop the rattlin'.
Started her up and all is well.
I had never seen and alternator get bent out of shape in this fashion.
Hope this helps someone out there some time.
