Re: video and sound of my clutch
I haven't read your other thread, but have you had someone watch the firewall as you were pushing the clutch pedal? You may also want to squeeze under the dash with a flashlight and make sure the fork where the end of the cable goes isn't bent or the cable is misrouted. That doesn't sound very healthy!

Sounds like your pedal forks might be bent, I also am having this problem will need to take apart the assembly to get a better idea as to what's going on and hope it's not fatigue of the firewall. The are a number of posts which go into more detail. Let me know how your fix goes.

And nice use of video to help show what's going on!
Re: video and sound of my clutch
You're going to have to get that poor duck out from under the pedal - he sounds terrible.
Re: video and sound of my clutch
That does not sound to me like the firewall tearing. Is the clutch easy to push in, or is it too stiff??
I fix a lot of squeeky clutches on all sorts of cars, generally getting under there and taking a good look, and selectively spraying things with WD40 will isolate the culprit area. The pivot bushings, the cable, lots of options.
Good luck!

Sounds like something is dry and needs lube. I'd bet on the pivot bushing. Unfortunately, the pedal assembly is not so easy to disassemble clean, lube, and reassemble, but that's what I would recommend.

Re: video and sound of my clutch
Clutch seems stiff to me but I am new to Fiats. Kind of feels binding. The clutch cable was replaced 6 years ago but only has 8,000 miles on it. The car was always kept in a garage in Sacramento, Ca. No rust on this car anywhere. I know the firewall was replaced and re-enforced because of fatigue some time ago. About 30,000 miles ago I think. It has 133,000 miles on the car. There also is no pedal return spring but the pedal comes back up with no problem. Probably lost when the firewall was repaired. My guess is the pivot area. Not sure how hard to remove the assembly for tear-down. But I think I will wait for spring time to do it as it works fine.majicwrench wrote:That does not sound to me like the firewall tearing. Re: video and sound of my clutch
Return spring is down at trans.
Typically, these Fiats have nice easy clutches. If it is stiff, obviously that is probably the same issue as the noise.
If you continute to use the car with the stiff clutch, you increase the likelyhood of damaging things, like the firewall.
I would try and figure out what is making noise before pulling car apart.
Good luck!

Return spring for the pedal is what I was speaking of. It's winter so not planing on driving it mush. Bought it for the nice weather and top down. It sounds like the bushings are bad at the pedal pivot area if I were to guess.majicwrench wrote:Return spring is down at trans.

I had a similar sound, though not as bad. Sprayed WD-40 liberally in the area of the pivot and it went away, hasn't come back for a year now.
