Anyone know if you can purchase or rebuild the speedo drive assembly on a 81 Fi 5 speed manual tranny. I have the tranny out and inspected the gears both in the tranny and on the speedo drive. Both in excellent condition. The problem is in the drive itself. It seems to be the bevel gear that I assume is used inside the unit. If I push the cable seat connector in the gear disengages when I pull it out it works fine. This causes the speedo to randomly work or not. How the hell do you get at it? I cannot seem to find a place that sells them. Mine uses the blue dot color code.
Any help would be much appreciated.

messed with one back in the Jurassic period. there is a soft plug in the end that gives you access to the bevel gears. never took it any farther than that other than unsuccessfully getting the soft plug to not leak.
