I have several fiat manuals, but none cover the throtle linkage rod adjustment
I just rebuilt the carb and finished all choke adjustments. After I put the Carb back on the manifold, how do I adjust the throtle linkage rod?
78 spider 1800 with 32ADFA Carb Accelerator linkage on intake cam box
Here in Hawaii it is usually above 77 degrees so the choke is open a little bit even when the car is cold.
Should I just drop the carb onto the intake, and then adjust the rod so that it fits easily between the two connection points?
Should the rocker arm of the accelerator linkage on the intake cam box be touching its stop point, or should the linkage rod be adjusted longer so that it comes close but not quite touches the stop point.
thanks
Matt

Aloha Matt,
Sorry, I don't have any answers for you - I just wanted to say hi from a fellow islander. Glad to hear you are having fun with your '78. I heard from Bob that you borrowed some shims from him. I've been speaking with Mike Bouse about the linkage for a 32/36 DFEV carb. I don't think it is relevant to your setup. In the past, however, I have just adjusted the rod so that it fits easily between the two connection points and made sure the linkage on the cam box was touching its stop point. I tightened up the linkage to remove any slack but made sure the carb throttle would seat against the idler screw.
Have fun Matt!

linkage
Aloha Mike,
Nice to hear from you. Thats pretty much what I thought about the linkage. I got the linkage set up, now i'm working on adjusting the carb idle mix and idle speed, then timming. I'm not quite back on the road yet. I can get it to run sort of, but not well. I think I'm going to switch my stock 78 points distributor to a 79 electronic that I have. Hoperfully that will simplify a few things. I hope to have it running smoothly by the end of this weekend.
While i was talking to Bob I asked him if he knew anyone on the island that had a Fiat spider that could be used as parts or worse. I have a few rust holes in my floor boards near the accelerator pedel and a few on the pass side same place. I was going to custom fab some panels, but if someone has a car that I could cut out a section, then that would save me a lot of work. He mentioned a guy named Tom, do you know him?
I'm also looking for a heater core.
Mahalo,
