I need to do an introduction page entry but I don't have a photo of my vehicle where it's not on jackstands yet and who wants to read an intro without a photo? I promise an introduction entry as soon as I have my Fiat off the jackstands.
I'm currently in the process of rebuilding the brake calipers on a 1978 Fiat Spider. After getting the vehicle to start and idle after sitting for 13 years, the brakes are my first project in a very long list of projects for this car.
After reading the brake caliper rebuild instructions at the link below, I want to find out if anybody knows why the author didn't clean the mechanical elements inside the main piston? There is a spring, a screw for the plunger, some bearings, and a washer, along with a circular clip that holds all of these together inside the piston.

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks, Martin
Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild Question - Main Piston
Re: Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild Question - Main Piston
He doesn't go into detail but mentions it in the assembly instructions...
"After thoroughly cleaning the disassembled parts with solvent and a brush (parts washing bath works great), we can get started on assembly."
