will anyone sell me a brake line bolt?

Post by 84pininfarinablack »

Ive searched the world over and nobody has these things... its the bolt that slides on the metal brake line and connects the line to the master cylinder and the rubber brake hose on the other end..

I want one of these bolts
If you have the front left brake line (with bolts attached already even better)
I have paypal and i need to find someone who can mail it to me on monday so it arrives this week.

Got a photo? If the one in the parts car is in good condition, is yours. Just need to know what exactly it looks like...

Or just point to the part if it is in any of these photos:

its one of the ones that go into the master cylinder.. there is another one just like it on the same brake line down by the front left tire..

You have a few of them there.. thanks id love to buy 1 or 2 from ya..
Or if you can get the brake line from the master cylinder to the left front tire ill buy the whole thing. (2 bolts and metal brake line) then i wouldnt have to flare the brake line wrong again.. ill pay extra for that..
message me with price. thanks again.

I am trying to understand what part it is... can you just download the photo I posted and mark the line/bolt so I can see what it is?

Is it a bolt or a line compression/flair adapter?

Once I know, I will get it out and send it to you priority...

its probably called a line compression / flare adapter... lol i wish i knew the words.. (looks like a bolt with a hole in the head of it and that hole goes thru to the bottom of it) the brake line slides thru it and the flared end of the brake line sites right into this thing.. ill try to use paint on your pic to point at the brake line piece i need.
thanks again

im not sure how to upload images here so i stuck the pic on my own webpage.

http://headwebmaster.com/fiat.html

pic is up top... i need that bolt / flare adapter / compressor thingy... lol and the brake line that runs off of it and it goes about a foot down to the front right wheel.

so in summary.... 2 flare adapters. and that little piece of brake line. front left..

thanks lemme know youll have to take the flare adapter off the MC and then the other end off the Front left brake hose. It pulls right out into the engine compartment or downwards either way..

If you don't have them, do yourself a favor and get one... a 10mm flair nut wrench. Made for brake lines and if those fail then there is really not much you can do...

Image

The good news is that the line is out. The bad news is that even with the correct wrench I could not free the one next to the caliper hose... :( When I saw that it was not giving I took the cut wheel and cut the bracket. Took it inside the garage and held the 17mm part (I cut the hose, leaving the 17mm end stuck to the hard brake line) in the press and tried to free the line... no luck, applied some heat to the bottom, no dice, nothing I would do would free the line... so I ended up damaging the end. since it was gone I use some vice grips and it finally came out. But the flair nut is not loose, it is stuck to the line. It seems that since these lines are coated the coating would stick to the nut... anyway.

Image

Let me know what you would like me to do. I cut additional line from the other side so you have two adapters/nuts/fittings/yeah whatever/thingys, and some hard line.

Image

If that works for you send me a PM with your contact information and I will drop it in the mail.

84,contact Classic Ricambi, and ask Csaba about that left front hard line.Tell him it is the one he found for Craig. He had a good used one,but I got a local shop to make me one so I didnt need it.That line seems to be tough for anyone to get off w/o damaging it.

Even with the flare/tubing wrench those puppies are tough to get off. Soak them with P.B. Blaster, then use a tubing wrench AND clamp vice grips on the wrench as tight as you can. This will keep the wrench from spreading. The FIAT lines are bubble flair, but did not match anything available at my local parts store. I did find adapter fittings at my local parts store that went from "standard" inverted flair to the FIAT's bubble flair, so I flared mine to inverted flare and used the adapters.

You are right ,Trey.I spent an hour going thru everything Autozone had.Without making it look like a hardware store....I couldnt find anything.I have a friend who has a (high dollar) Snap-On flaring kit, that had the bubble flare.Made me one up in no time.
