squeaky clutch pedal
squeaky clutch pedal
I have squeaky clutch pedal. creaks when pressing the clutch pedal. I guess it is the spring creaking? I tried grease, wd 40, no help. Anyone had a similar issue?
Re: squeaky clutch pedal
a squeaking pedal may be a warning that the pedal is cracked near the cable fork at the top. If the fork looks crooked or twisted it's time to remove the pedal and repair it before it breaks the cable
Re: squeaky clutch pedal
if indeed it is the pedal and not the spring that is squeaking, Mark is correct. Either the pedal can tear and break, or it can snap off the end of the cable, rendering it useless.
if it is the spring that is squeaking, the best remedy is to ignore it. you can frustrate yourself to death attempting to stop this spring from squeaking.

Yeah, I have the same problem! It seems to come and go? I just ignore it or turn the stereo up!
Re: squeaky clutch pedal
stereo? just push that pedal on the far right to the floor and listen to that dual tipped Italian exhaust....

i have the same issue.. i dont see any cracks.. the squeak is soooo loud.. its obnoxious complely. broken steel couldnt make this noise i dont think.. If anyone finds the answer please post it. Im not convinced that a spring can make this noise either from being pulled. im going to go hose it down again with wd40 ill let you know..
Re: squeaky clutch pedal solved
the super squeek is gone... i gave it another wd40 bath and no luck..
then i pushed in the clutch and while holding it in gave it another wd40 bath..
and that solved it instantly.. wish i could tell you what it was.. but its gone now.. the only noise to be heard is coming from under the hood.. a very small squeak probably cant hear with engine running. Maybe i can squirt that too with the lube.
thank god its gone.

Re: squeaky clutch pedal
What I like to do before installing a new clutch cable is use a syringe and squirt gearbox oil into the cable sheath. Hang the cable up and wait for it to run out the bottom. This provides a little bit of lubricant around all the bends. Also check you cable run and make sure the radius are big and smooth. For you left hand drivers, it does a 'u' turn at the front of the engine. For the right hand hookers the cable routes around the front of the engine.
This also works with noisy speedo cables

Re: squeaky clutch pedal
Time to get a spare clutch cable. My clutch cable started to squeak and three days later, Snap! The noise was from the broken stands of the cable rubbing on the sheath.

Had the same issue and finally replaced it. I found the noise was actually where it comes out of the fire wall and bends down towards the tranny yet sounded like it was at the pedal inside. Oiling would get rid of it for a while then it would come back just to P me off. Inspecting the innards it looked perfect so must have been inside the jacket. Took all of an hour to replace.
