coolant flush

I want to flush the coolant system on my 1981 Spider 2000. The decision is do I do it the old fashion way or do I take it to a local service facility and have it flushed with one of the machines that cycles out the old fluid and installs the new. I know its less expensive to do it at home. One of my co-workers claims having it done professionally is the best way.
All thought would be appreciated

Well, considering a fluid flush is done somewhere between 3-4 years, why not have it done professionally? The difference is cost is about a dollar three eighty

There's no evidence the "professional" way has any advantages over the old fashioned way. Some shops use a system that recycles the coolant by filtering your old coolant and adding the chemicals that have broken down over time. If you don't have a method of disposal, having someone else do it seems logical.

using a flush machine is far superior to just draining and refilling. A proper flush machine changes the direction of flow to dislodge any debris and will completely drain the system. Just opening the radiator drain leaves the cooling system half full
