Rear View Mirror Replacement
What is the best way to remove the rear view mirror without damaging it?
Re: Rear View Mirror Replacement
stock mirrors are held in place with a spring-tension clip mounted to the window frame. look at the bottom side of the mirror base, and you should be able to see a slit or opening between the mirror stalk and the base. gently pry here with a flat blade screw driver.
or, grip the mirror by the stalk and push with a firm but slow motion upward.
do not grab the mirror by the glass housing.

If you're wanting to replace your mirror because the glass is cloudy or dirty, you can take the mirror apart by prying the front trim off of it and you'll find that the mirror has a clear glass cover over it. Dirt gets between the layers and you need to take it apart to clean the mirror surface. There are two slots with tabs on the bottom of the front trim, pull down on the bottom of this trim to clear the tabs from the slots and it will come off. Be careful, the glass and mirror will fall out once you have the cover off.
