Transmission mount

Post by ralphcap »

Can't lift transmission enought to allow installation of a new transmission mount. The spider is on four jack stands and the transmission is being lifted with a hydraulic jack. When I reach a certain point in lifting the tranny the whole car starts to lift instead of just the transmission. It doesn't lift the tranny enough to allow for installation of the mount on the two bolts on the tranny and the two on the bracket. What am I doing wrong?

I recall having this problem and found that the shift housing was catching on the production joint in the tunnel. Once it gets past this point, there seems to be more room.

Hope this helps
