Need Help with the radio

For nostalgia's sake, my 71 still has an am/fm 8 track tape player that still works fine. The 72 has an upgraded Pioneer am/fm cassette player. I would like to eventually replace the radio in the 72 but the new radios don't have tuner knobs and are flat on the front. I'd hate to cut the original radio plate to accomodate the new style radio. My X19 was all ready for the future. The new radios just slide right in with no problem.

Longshot, but isnt there a guy here who fixes our clocks. Maybe this is something he can pull off. The old radio just looks period correct. I installed an old alpine shaft radio in my x 1/9 because it fit and looked right.

In my '72, I made an aluminum plate and installed 3 1 5/8" gauges where the radio once resided. Then I bought one of these stand alone amps from Hong Kong and mounted it in the glove box. No radio, but Ipod, yes. You could use a regular amp, but this one had volume, balance, fader, etc. I'd post a pic, but it's miles away.

How did you wire the power for it? The ad doesn't list a power adapter. And how/where did you mount it? I've been looking for something just like this since half the music sucks on the radio, not to mention terrible reception much of the island of the island.

The one I bought came with a power adapter, I wired t so that it is on when the ign is on, although it does have a switch.
