The barter system

I can see it now.. poor Krissy in the ditch with shovel in hand, helping LD and Ron sitting on his lawn chair near by with a beer in his hand.....what's wrong with this picture?

I of course don't Ither you or Rons wife but from what I read about you on the forum and you not being afraid to get greasy ,,you would be fun helper to drop some dirt on.. haha ha hah and all the while drinking a beer or two with Ron in our lawn chairs on the bank of the ditch . I will leave you with the last word by the way and I would expect nothing less that a good rebuttle.. I,m already looking for my best sneekers to run my fastest.. LD

We had an interesting offer recently. We are looking to redo the siding on our house and a builder that just purchase our across-the-street neighbor's house (he had to buy it so she could close on the house he built for her) offered to do our siding in exchange for our 80 Fiat .

This is hilarious. I've been reading through a lot of posts catching myself up on the latest Fiat quirks and I've been trying to remember who my father sold his 124 coupe to back in the mid/late 70s'. I came across this thread and BAMM! He traded it to a guy he hired to put new siding on our house. I remember now like it was yesterday. And now I remember my dad telling the guy that he had to get the title cleared to buy enough time for the siding guy to finish the job. In good faith, he gave him a check for the deposit amount that he would have givin him anyway to hold onto until he signed over the title. Wow!
I guess there really is nothing new under the sun after all...

You reminded me of back when I first was building my house I Painted a Tractor and a old 2 ton truck for a farmer who had some used but nice windows that I needed for my house.. Your story was a reminder to me .. good to read thx

the proper barter arrangement would be equal and fair for both parties. I used to barter but quit many years ago because everyone tried to get the better of the deal instead of a fair deal.
