Shim Removal Tool for Fiats?

Post by HawaiianSpider »

Greetings,
Does anyone know where I could obtain a shim removal tool for my '79 Fiat? I am having the head machined but can't seem to locate the shim tool.

Cheers,
Mike

those tools are hard to come by these days. Guy Croft was the last to have some made, but I'm not sure if he has any left. If you're having the head machined, have the machine shop set the valves while they're assembling the head, or assemble the head on the bench and remove the cam housing after measuring all the valve clearances to change shims

Thanks Mark,

I'll assemble the head on the bench and remove the cam housing to change shims.

Hope you are enjoying the weather in SoCal!

Oh ! Remember last summer ? It was 107 at my office in Riverside,Ca. I could use a shim kit as well as the tool for 124's. :D

MIKE! I have the shim kit! Don't buy the shims yet. Call me at work or e-mail me.
