Perfect Fiat day

Post by mdrburchette »

I finally was able to have a long awaited date with my mother for my birthday today, so we packed a cooler with some water bottles and a couple Belgium beers (thanks Tappy!), stopped by a local restaurant for a couple Italian subs and went to the mountains in the Fiat. This was Mom's first ride in a Fiat since she learned to drive in a 1937 Topolino and she enjoyed it immensely (especially the growl from the dual IDFs :D ). After having lunch in the woods by a beautiful lake surrounded by the fall colors, we realized something was amiss. We were giggling at everything like little school girls and after reading the label of that beer, realized we just drank the equivelant of three regular beers. So, we decided to walk through the woods, collecting pretty leaves until the effects wore off enough to drive home. We stopped at a little cafe for some coffee and enjoyed the quiet serenity you could only find in the mountains. What a perfect day!

Thanks Danno! It's bad that it took three months for us to get together, but the weather couldn't have been any better.

That is AWESOME! That's one of those Master Card priceless moments. That's a great mothers day idea, everyone should take their mom out for a picinic in their Fiat and post pics. That is really cool Denise, thanks for sharing.

Now you know why we were all wishing you a Happy Birthday just recently.
Your story reminds me of the special time I had taking my Mom back to Washington with the stop off at "Oregon 08" last June. Even though the car had the overheating problem, it was fantastic to spend the time with her and me and the Fiat.
Amber's turn taking you out next.

my story pales in comparison; since my mom is long gone, I picked up a little ofd lady on the corner (she had to be somebodys' mother, right?) took her for a ride to the mountains, Found a lake, bought a bottle of cheap wine, then left her there while I took a spirited drive back down the winding road. I doubt that she'll go again next Mothers Day :(

Mark, you didn't! You did go back to get the little old lady, didn't you?
Tappy, my mother's German and when she translated the label it talked about "offering to your health". We missed the Devil part! Dang, it sure was good beer, but I'm glad we only had one a piece.
