Horn oil?? Brake fluid?? More newbie questions..

Post by majicwrench »

Uncomfortable with the fact that my old Haynes manual say to use Girling brake fluid. Searching here, sounds like DOT 3 works fine. Is that the case on a 72 spider??
Also, being really picky/anal here, does it matter what I oil the horn compressors with??
Thanks yet again,
Keith

I used 3 in 1 oil in the compressor and haven't had a problem.

Don't honk your horn if Ace is around Dave. He teases me because mine aren't the Peterbuilt type like his!

Yeh, Ron. I'm still waiting for you to get a real horn. Ask anybody whose name ends in a vowel. It's generally understood that without a proper horn, you really don't have an Italian car.

That reminds me of something. Sorry Craig, I've dropped the ball. I believe that I need to get a package in the mail to you.

Once upon a time I had a '70 124 Sport Coupe. I found that "Marvel Mystery Oil" worked the best. If I used a heavier oil, like ATF, the horns sounded really wimpy.
Back in those days the California Highway Patrol used to have roadside vehicle safety checks and every time they had me honk the horns they always said the same thing, "DANG, those things are loud! :D
I think I need to find a set. I just don't like the electric horns on my '80, no soul. :(

Do those Harbor Freight horns really have the correct Fiamme (sp?) sound? Or is that an inside joke?
