While I finish up part 4 of the series I thought I'd go ahead and post some handy resources. I know lots of people have these but if you don't they are good to have. The first set will be a list of what all the loads off various fuses are. Three versions based on year. I'll add the relay / electrical location diagrams shortly. These are all from the factory service manual; something you should get a copy of if you don't have one and want to learn about or work on your car. BTW, UNPROTECTED circuits means just that, not protected by a fuse. You short out one of those and things melt!

Do happen to have the relay lay out for the 1975 spider? I going through mine and would like to make life simpler and remove the relays under the glove box if I can. I didn't realize that there so many changes through the years.

The diagram just above you question says it is for 75 and 76.

WOW Jeff I cant imagine all the time and effort you have put into this series of posts. You have explained the the original factory wiring with great detail. Posting the the fuse functions and relay locations in one post is very helpful.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones as I have not had many electrical issues with my 81 Spider. As others have stated keeping clean and tight connections is pretty important especially the light bulbs and their sockets.
I have seen a couple of Lada wire diagrams and they use more relay circuits that Fiat. I'm thinking the Lada switch contacts are not as robust as the Sipea contacts so your suggestion of bypassing the switch has lots of merit.
