Has anyone had any success replacing the windshield washer pump on a 1980 Fiat spider?
This is the pump that goes in the hard plastic washer bottle.
Looking to find a pump that will fit in the opening.
Removed mine that was held in by some kind of spring washer.
Looking to find something similar, but all the ones I see come with a grommet.
Maybe a washer pump from another make/model will fit?
Thanks

Yes..I saw this one.
Mine looks a little different, does not have the 90 degree bend in the tube.
My old one was held in with a spring washer and a flat gasket.
If I am not mistaken this one will need a grommet.
Thanks

A picture of what you have would help. It may be an after market universal tank and not OEM.

Re: Windshield Washer Pump
Not that this is a good idea, but when my pump leaked I changed out the bag with one without a pump - plus my bag was pretty brittle. I have it filled with liquid and have my relays to the headlights and driving lights behind it keeping them cooler from the aftermarket header.
I figured I never really used the windshield washer unit anyway.
Again, probably not the best idea if trying to really restore - but cheaper.

Personally for less than the cost of the OEM pump I bought a universal replacement tank with the more standard bayonet mount pump in the bottom of the tank. Works like a champ and its all clean and new.
Mine is not a show car and with the diesel in it will probably never be the $30,000 prized Concourse 124 Spider so it was a good fit for my daily driver.

Did a search....
I installed this one into the water bottle on my 81. Works fine. I had to open the hole in the bottle slightly for the new seal.

Re: Windshield Washer Pump
The link does not open up as easily as it use to for viewing the pump.
I believe the pump is for a Jeep front wiper system part number TAAP 8-695. Not only did I open the hole in the bottle slightly with a tapered reamer I also cut off the original wires off the original pump at the pump, saving the wires and 2 pin connector. Then I cut the off the cars connector that came with the TAAR pump and spliced the old and new together.
This way when finished the washer bottle was plug and play.

Not the one I usedThis one?
The one I used is TAAP 8-695 I forget what vehicle its for but I was thinking its replacement for a Jeeps front washer bottle.
I think if you google the part number you will find a photo. I don't know how to post a photo from the net. But here is a different link https://www.taapcorp.com/pump/jeep/cher ... -1982-1983

Wizard used the right angle version which is probably better since it won't be sticking straight out or down so should take up less room.spider2081 wrote:Not the one I usedThis one?

You right click on the photo and most times select copy image location then paste that link into the IMG block on this site.
