New trunk boards and carpet.

Just finished cutting new trunk boards and then carpeting everything and couldn't help but think it came out pretty well! Not bad for $20 of carpet from Home Depot. Now to mount and wire that stereo amp!





Still debating carpet on the battery box. Opinions?

I'd vote "no" on carpeting the battery box.

I carpeted mine. I built a custom box around it because I have a battery disconnect and left a hole at the top to get to the disconnect. Here's what it looks like if that helps you make a decision.

do you glue it down? Velcro?...or just lay it in?

On mine I used Velcro strips to hold the carpet to the plywood. They hold very well so the carpet doesn't move at all.

For the battery box I glued it to the wood as the box comes off as one assembly.


To cut and fit it I made cardboard templates. I basically got close with a large piece of cardboard, then taped smaller pieces to it following the contours of the trunk. I used that to cut out the plywood, then used the plywood as a template to cut out the carpet. Getting the cardboard right was fiddly. Leave the old plywood in the trunk as you're doing it to provide a solid base, as the cardboard starts to get floppy - especially as you tape more and more pieces to it that are following the contours of the trunk.

Trunk Light, it has a small bulb and housing that attaches to a clip.

Actually NOT the trunk light wire (that is a single wire much higher up).

Most of it is connections for a stereo amp I need to re-install. The fuse box I installed for various loads back there, the electric fuel pump, thew stereo amp, an electric antenna and whatever else I might add. To the left of the fuse box is a relay for the fuel pump. You can also just barely see the Ford inertia switch I put in the path to the pump mounted to the side of the battery box.

Thanks, just wondering. Thought might be a complicated battery cut out. Anti theft. I routed one under dash of my 65 GOT. Switch off, car dead.
