I think I blew it.

Post by rlux4 »

I just noticed something that may be a major problem. I was reading through the FI manual (http://www.mirafiori.com/faq/fiatFI_may2002.pdf) supplied by Brad Artigue (bless his little pea-pickin' heart).
I see where the air flow meter is a factory sealed device and any tampering will void the warranty. I took the cover off of mine when I was diagnosing the no start a couple of weeks ago to verify that it was working correctly. Now I learn that from now on I have no factory warranty.
I think I may be in trouble.

But you'll still be getting postcards urging you to come in to the dealership for service, including a "must have" $300 fuel injection cleaning.

Yep, you blew it! Fiat will never forgive you for this. We ran into a similar situation with a Rolls Royce we were restoring in 1995. After completing the work on the Silver Shadow, we heard the warranty would be void if the hood was opened by someone other than a Rolls technician.

Mark, were you thinking of the matress and warranty police? I think the same time they inspect your matress they will be coming to check the warranty on 30 year old cars and parts!!!

hard to believe these cars ever have a warranty in the first place -- no wonder Fiat was losing money. Quality "standards" in general were quite a bit different back then.

Ron...you should have sprung for the extended warranty.Do you think they thought there would be this many Spiders running 30 years later? We put poor Tony out of business!
