Boss 429 Fiat

Post by MinnBri »

Some people were asking about the story behind the "429"Fiat....It goes something like this.
Back sometime ago when I was in High school, I found this Beautiful, piss yellow 4 door sedan 128 Fiat. It had rust everywhere and looked like hell. The engine ran great, the interior was immaculate, and the engine ran really well. So being a seventeen year old kid, I thought what the hell, $400.00 is a good price so, I bought it. I had a good friend that was in the body shop business and he painted the car bright canary yellow. It was very bright canary yellow. I drove that around town for awhile, and then one day I grabbed a saws-all and did it. Yup Cut that top right off. Now I had a 128 "Spider." People around here don’t see fiat's that often, so when I cut the top off, a lot of people wondered what kind of car it was. So I had a graphics art class in school and I made a "boss 429" decal. Just like they put on the Mustangs. Something like this. http://image53.webshots.com/753/8/31/88 ... hkM_ph.jpg Then the people got really confused. It was hilarious that some people would come up to me and ask " does that really have a 429 in it?" I would reply " yep it sure does.." and start and drive away with that great 4 cylinder Fiat sound.....laughing my butt off!

yeah, the link did not work for me either. But, i get the jist of the post....

i just wished i had the forethought to take pictures of all the stupid things i did as a kid. my grown children do not understand how crazy i am today... if they only knew how much more sedate i am now, from where i came... they'd really laugh their butts off.

this is your dad.
this is your dad on drugs...

cutting the top off a 128 sounds amazingly familiar....though i did it with a '68 F100. the windshield eventually fell out, but hey! it was fun that summer while it lasted. how about taking the doors off a '64 Malibou, permenantly? the difference between yours and ours was we had those big detroit V-8's..so we could be stupid driving while doing so in a completely unsafe manner.
