:D... As has been previously suggested, I retarded the timing a few degrees.. The NO levels dropped from my last test 2 years ago.

A hearty congratulations. Anytime one passes CA smog they deserve special mention. I've never had the opportunity to smog the FI version, but I understand they have an easier time passing than the carb versions from 76-79. But as a CA resident, I have struggled through many "retests" on various vehicles and always dreaded smog time when I had some older cars.

Again - always good news to pass CA smog - two more years of stress-free driving.

I had the shop do a pre-test to be sure the car would pass.. I didnt want to fail and have the DMV send me through hoops later.
I had an old carbed 7.4 Ford that was a gross polluter; PITA.

Wow, getting your car smogged! I lived in Pasadena from the late 70's to the early 90's and had forgotten what an absolute bummer getting your car smogged was. Actually, my car never passed a single test!!! I had to pay a guy who took my car for an hour or so and returned with my certificate. "Ask me no questions, I tell you no lies". I live in Ohio now and there is no smog testing thank goodness.
