wood panels

Post by burgundyspider »

I want to replace the wood around the instrument on the dash and glove box, etc. What kind of wood was used in the 1973 Spider?

Thank you

I would look for a marine plywood as it is less apt to delaminate when exposed to weather.

You might consider veneering over the existing dash panels, there are a few threads here and it is not very difficult. Then you are assured the original fit.

I use Kahaya (Mahogany) for my dashes. Just finishing up a set for the '83.

I do have a set from my past '75 that may fit. Instrument cluster, 2 strips in the center and glovebox. PM me your address and I can send them to you if you are interested. I made a number of panels that are just sitting around.

I have just finished making mine. I used a top grade marine ply and then veneered the panels.

Ply cut out and test fit

Veneer glued on. Used blade to cut out holes
