Door Pillar Upper Rubber bumper

Post by ylbill »

Does anyone know how these get installed? Seems like they are partly glued in. Is that correct?
One of mine has separated and was wondering if anyone has had success gluing it back together. I've tried, but haven't had any success.

Thanks

Mine was held in with a screw and some contact glue. you can see the grommet for the screw on the side, but mine is a 1980 model

I JUST did this a couple weeks ago after finding mine under the drivers seat. It was warped pretty badly...I gave it a thin coat of gorilla brand crazy glue, used painters tape to hold it down and shut the door on it over night. Come morning, it's perfect. YMMV.

Thanks, I'll try the gluing again. Hopefully it will work like yours did.

+1 this thing is a quirky pain in the butt. I used some black RTV to hold it and that seemed to finally do the trick.

I have the same problem. Used double-sided carpet tape as a temporary fix.

I have been looking for door pillars which have the rain drain attachment that has a hose which exits the car through the lower drain hole. From what I understand these are not available from any of the vendors. From the picture above it looks like these drains where not on older model cars...I could be wrong? My car is a 73 and here is a picture. Please don't chuckle at the paint job over spray. That is the way the car came when I purchased it and have been scrapping paint off chrome; plastic and rubber parts. You can see the door pillar is attached with a screw.
