Thought you'd all get a kick out of this picture of my suspension cross member. "Never seen anything like this before," says my Italian mechanic.

I recently had nearly the whole front suspension replaced. Best guess is that there was some flaw in the metal that couldn't take the stiffer components

You should see his shop. 2 Spiders there now...a full restoration and one in for repairs, alongside vintage Ferraris and an Alfa. Cracks in the ends are common for sure, but this is extreme, no?

Repetitive flexural stress would do it, but you would expect it to break much more raggedly, like a tear. This looks like a brittle break, which is very odd. Likely an underlying metal flaw.
