Hi, I have a CS1 Spider (1977). It has the push button door handles, with the lock in the button. Recently, on the left side door (passenger here), if I use the key to lock it, it cannot be unlocked by the key. The only way it can be opened is from the inside using the lever. I have had a look to see how it all works (very hard in the limited space) and it appears that when the key is turned, a lever, connected to something moves up and prevents it being opened by the button. When the key is turned to unlock it, theoretically the lever moving down moves something and frees the system. While the lever is moving down and moves something, it is no longer freeing the system.
It did work ok until recently. Obviously something is worn or broken. Does anyone have one of these mechanisms out of the car, so I can see what it all looks like? Also, does anyone know the best way to remove the whole mechanism for inspection and repair?
Thanks, in anticipation,
