Ottawa Italian Festival - Car Parade Day

Post by phaetn »

Thanks to our local club (Italian Car Club of Ottawa) for hosting and arranging a car parade day. Lots of old Fiats, Alfas, Lambos, and Ferarris, plus plenty of newer stuff, too. The very newest was the new 2017 Fiat Spider. Unfortunately I only saw if in passing when it was in the opposing lane for the parade. I hope to see more at FFO!

Here are a couple of vids from the day for posterity:
i) On the way to the parade; clearly (despite the fact that I cannot sing) I have taught my daughter a little about decent music:

I had a critical issue: after working fine all year, my horn suddenly stopped working; I knew this meant that my rad fan wouldn't cycle on, and we would be driving slowly for 20 minutes on the hottest day of the year. Egads! Luckily josting the fuses worked, though it gave me a shock. :)

Cheers,

A big thank you to phaetn, spiderdan and 4uall for hosting me to a chance for a cold swim on a sweltering day, a bottle of Crown Royal and escorting me around the sights of beautiful Ottawa. I had a great time at this Italian Car parade. To many more in the years to come.

Video 1: Knowing the music kids listen to these days it's great to see a cool kid digging cool music. Okay, likewise for the big kid next to her.

Video 2: Spiderdan take note at 0:00-0.03, at who is directing traffic around my red car, "the obstacle." Now you see firsthand proof why the chief later condemed me for riding in your car. However, it's evident that phaetn didn't have such a hard time driving around me.

I wish I lived closer to you folks in Eastern Canada, it seems like you always have good Italian car shows up there! We get only Tutto at The Larz in August. I guess I shouldn't use the word "only" as it is an excellent show, but there are no other Italian car show events that I am aware of within hundreds of miles of Boston. :?:

Another good parade with da boys. Always great to see Arik in Ottawa (thanks for the parts) and to share a pint with.
Warning...do not let Arik go to the washroom after lunch, when he returns somehow the bills are all paid for! 8)
Tx again buddy.
It was a really hot day and most of our rads kept kool, although that can't be said about some of the people there. But I won't go there here.
Tx Jay for offering up your pool for the after parade swim.

Just a great day with great cars and great friends.

Just did an 85 mile ride to a Cruise last evening, only to find that it was moved to today to coincide with Father's day!

Indeed it was great to meet you guy’s and hopefully I will see you again this summer in Montreal. Great weekend and a lovely parade. I didn’t participate at the parade cause I wanted to take pictures and see all the cars. That afternoon I stayed in the area and found out that they have made a drag and oval strip at the end of Preston Street where everyone who wanted to could try there car, it was very entertaining.
Ari thank you again for picking up the tab it’s greatly appreciated

Aw nuts to that! And by that I mean: Balls! :(

How totally lousy. I had a blue tooth ear piece stolen from my rear ashtray during the previous night's festivities on Preston St., too. Some people just don't want to earn their own things, I guess.

Here in the Capital of the Great White North we should order together to try and save on shipping. Sometimes I ship to Ogdensburg, NY and other times straight here.

Last week I had some tools stolen from my garage, too, when I took a break from working on the car into the night. I left the garage door open thinking I would be back in two minutes when I went to wish my kids good night, but then was a bit delayed to set them up with fans and air conditioning because it was so hot. Fifteen to twenty minutes later I came back and my angle grinder, impact wrench, corded electric drill, and even my old radio that was hanging on the wall were all missing.

Some jerk had the temerity to just take them! I drove around the neighbourhood for twenty minutes looking for somebody walking with my stuff, but I think they must have put it in a car or truck.

Oh well. Some people are losers and takers. I'll keep my faith in the people that actually affect positive change in the world like my wife. She's a saint!

Cheers,
phaetn

phaetn,
That sucks. You want to be trusting and think the best of people and 99.99% of the time people are. Only takes 1 person to see an open garage, not give a crap about the person they are stealing from, and take something that's not theirs.

Had my Canadian flag stolen on Canada Day from the front of my garage. Is nothing sacred? 1st the Fiat emblem and now the Canadian flag!

On the brighter side when I ordered the new emblems for the car I was able to sneak in a new wood steering wheel from Allison's automotive! So I got a new $199 emblem and a $20 steering wheel... or maybe it's the other way around... ;)
