fuel filler: 71 vs 78
Why are they different? Can the old style be used on a 78? My 78 does not have any emissions, so I don't care about that. Did the actual body of the car change, or just the filler tube to accommodate extra lines or something? Ie, will it physically fit in a 78?

Why do you think they are differnet? We sell the same filter for all carbed Spiders.

Are you asking about the metal tube attached to the fender, or the rubber hose from there to the tank?

Hmmm, not sure. I have a leak when I fill up past 1/2 tank, and it looks like it's coming from the filler. Dude has a filler for sale, but says it's "early curved style" so I wanted to know what was different. If the tank is the same, and the metal filler at the top is the same, is the rubber part different? I guess that's likely to be the leaking part

Oh, thanks!
The 1976-on filler tube is much shorter, so the rubber filler hose is much larger. no, you cannot use an early one, unless you use an early filler tube.

So I appear to have the old style tube on my car ... about 20" long. Weird.

The old style tube has a ~45 degree bend atthe very bottom.
