3 year service

Post by azruss »

It's been 3 years since i put the car together, so thought it was time for a look see.
changed coolant. Radiator cap needed replacing. Didn't remove any hoses or thermostat. I have the heater hose filler port and hole in the stat, so had no air issues.
Changed tranny fluid from Valvoline semi-synthetic to GL1 (thanks to all you a-holes for making me paranoid about my fluid   ). It did stop my dripping and it does run quieter. It does not shift as smooth, particularly when just starting off.
I found a great way to fill. I used an old Devilbiss pressure pot. just disconnected the line from the paint gun and plugged and removed the airline to the gun and just pumped through the fluid hose. worked like a charm.
Rotated tires as i am right at 5000 miles. I also went in and tightened up all the suspension. A couple of cross member nuts needed tightening. Not seriously loose. I have them double nutted with the outside nuts being nylok. I also retorqued the a-arm pivot nuts since they were new with new bushings. Again, just needed a little tweaking. Checked the steering links for play and all looks good. Everything in back felt tight and retightened (for the forth time) the bolts from the Cat to the new exhaust pipe.
I spent a lot of time cleaning and painting when puting the car together. How nice it is to crawl under a semi-clean car. I always take a spray bottle of grease lightning or some other such degreaser and tidy everything up while i'm under there.
The oil was changed 1000 miles ago along with brake fluid.

Just a note that coolant and brake fluid flushes are at max considered a 2 year service.

The checking of the front suspension torques is recommended at every oil change by Eli Caul at Mirafiori.
