well I screwed in the rear brake caliper and it went in until it reached about 5/8's of an inch of being flush which is not nearly enough room to install the new pads and rotors.........the caliper still turns but doesn't go in anymore........just turns.....any suggestions anyone?

the rear caliper will not retract flush. It will get down to less than 1/8" from being flush,

Agree on pressure but also;
Do you have the rear axle hanging with the car jacked from the jack points on the side of the car?? I believe the weight of the car needs to be on the rear axle (axle on jack stands) for fluid to pass through the brake compensator. I know this is true to bleed the rear brakes so I would think its true to pass fluid back into the brake reservoir. As you turn the piston in it pushes fluid back through the compensator to the master cylinder into the reservoir.

Also is the parking brake completely released? You may need to back off the adjuster at the parking brake yoke to allow for the new pads too if it was set too tight originally.
